Further Information: e-Learning is clearly linked to organisational plans

The long term vision for the NHS is to embed e-Learning into the development of the healthcare workforce. The NHS Next Stage Review highlighted the need to use modern education techniques to fulfil the ambition to widen participation and learning and to enhance the learning environment for both those staff in training and those undertaking continuing professional development.

This now needs to be implemented in a co-ordinated, strategic way.

What you don’t want to happen in your organisation is that some staff embrace e-Learning enthusiastically, while others who are less confident and skilled are more reluctant to adopt this way of working.

In order to facilitate this change, it is important that it is clear, in your organisational plans, that e-Learning now has a vital role to play in the delivery of learning.

In your plans you can describe how you plan to take e-Learning forward in a strategic way and describe the support and training you will be offering to support it.

Look at the examples of this strategic approach to e-Learning in the NESC e-Learning and Libraries Strategy 2008-2010 and the East of England e-Learning strategy.
