Further Information: Bandwidth is sufficient to support the effective delivery of content.

Bandwidth is the rate at which data is transferred.

It is measured in bits per second (bits/s) or more usually given as mega, or a million, bits per second (Mbits/s).

The faster your connection the better, but a reasonable bandwidth for most uses is 1 to 2 Mbits/s.

Bandwidth is important as is determines the user experience and how long they have to wait for a web page to appear or a file to download.

If there are lots of people sharing a connection then things may appear to slow down as well. Bear in mind that the speed is determined by the slowest part of a system. So it may be that the server you are connected to is a problem rather than the bandwidth of your connection.

If things appear unreasonably slow you could check to see if there is a bandwidth problem. There are lots of tools available to test bandwidth, some examples are listed here.
