Further Information: Clear links between the benefits of e-Learning and resource allocation are made.

The development of e-Learning resources, programmes and services can be substantial in terms of effort, complexity, support, delivery and cost.

There is also a waste of resources, as often organisations purchase duplicate products or those which are not compatible with new technologies.

Therefore you need to show that the adoption of e-Learning can add value to and is benefitting your organisation and in particular your allocation of resources.

Effective use of e-Learning could contribute to you having to have a co-ordinated and coherent approach to resource allocation in terms of staff time for attending training, the use of trainers and the creation of training materials.

Two examples of the benefits between e-Learning and resource allocation are shown below.

“Access to education and training materials will change with an increasing focus on electronic access. E-based learning programmes will develop. For example, under the Radiology Integrated Training initiative the 400 modules that make up the radiology curriculum will be available electronically . . . By 2008 such developments will be much more widespread…”(NHS Improvement Plan 2004).”

“NHS East of England recognises that national NHS materials and materials from other sources will not meet all needs and contexts.  Whilst avoiding unnecessary duplication, it will continue to work with partners in the region and beyond to commission material that extends the offerings available nationally, particularly in areas where no national materials exist and/or where substantial regional contextualisation is required.”
