Further Information: It is expected that managers will complete an elearning maturity assessment and action plan areas of weakness.

What is an e-Learning maturity assessment?

An e-Learning maturity assessment is a best practice toolkit, such as the one you are doing now which analyses where organisations are in relation to their e-Learning maturity. For example it will enable to them to find out where their e-learning development is in a range from being not established at all through to being well developed. A maturity assessment can be applied at sector and organisational level and can help leaders and managers to benchmark their progress.

The NHS has developed this maturity model which you are completing in order to have a customised version which will produce a coherent response across the service.

Why are they needed?

Whilst there are now signs of significant e-Learning activity being pursued by a range of NHS organisations which indicate the potential of e-Learning, practical experience in delivering e-Learning within organisations and across the NHS is still relatively immature.

The outcomes of the assessment will enable organisations to progress in a coordinated and coherent way.

What to do as a result of doing an e-Learning maturity assessment

Once you know the results of your e-Learning maturity assessment and your strengths and weaknesses have been identified, then you need to start prioritising your next steps and action planning in a strategic, time bound way.

Using this Toolkit will help you to do this.

The question to ask now is:

Are your managers completing this model of e-maturity, or are they using others?
