Further Information: e-Learning champions are identified across the organisation.
What is an e-Learning Champion?
e-Learning Champions are individuals who can promote the use of e-Learning as a learning and development tool within an organisation. Their role may be combined within a more generic role eg Union Learning Representatives or they can be part of the existing training and development role within the organisation.
Successful e-Learning champions
Champions can be informal eg the enthusiastic, knowledgeable employees who just loves e-Learning but to be successful they should share most of the following qualities:
- planned – are part of a Trust wide or Region wide Strategy agreed at Board level.
- one of a team across the Trust – and from a variety of job roles, grades and professions, working environments and life experiences.
- clear about their roles and their roles agreed. In addition the role is agreed as part of their main job role – not just an add on.
- trained – they have knowledge about the subject, about how it fits in and works across the organisation and, most importantly, how to direct this and cascade it to potential learners.
- co-ordinated - so that they can promote jointly with agreed methods and equal access to resources and information.
- accessible to staff
- kept up to date, regularly, on the latest local, regional and national developments.
- supported – by other e-Learning champions, networks both internal and external to the organisation, by training and IT departments.
- enthusiastic, inspirational, leaders, facilitators
