Supporting the Champions

e-Learning Champions are individuals who can promote the use of e-Learning as a learning and development tool wthin an organisation both amongst existing trainers and managers who train but also to learners. With learners it should be particularly addressed to those employees who are new to, nervous or unsure of e-Learning.

One of the most important criteria for ensuring that e-Learning champions are successful is the support given to them by the organisation. This can include:

  • provision of training and familiarity sessions on new e-Learning products being used by the Trust.
  • access to existing e-Learning facilities and resources throughout the Trust.
  • being consulted with on developments in e-Learning - policy, resources, equipment.
  • working with departments on the identification of suitable products, evaluation of materials and use of products.Time to explore and research new methods equipment and packages.
  • having time to cascade knowledge to others.
  • being released from main job role to attend meetings and training opportunities.

Softer Skills of Champions

Champions, ideally, should be supported in developing the following qualities:

  • enthusiasm
  • ability to guide and motivate others
  • communicate clearly
  • Be approachable and open
  • be clear on delivery,
  • be persuasive 
  • be able to empathise with learners.  

Shared training sessions with other e-Learning representatives and access to e-Learning groups to gain access to updates, information and training should be organised by the organisation.
