Further Information: Learners are clear about how and when they will receive feedback and responses to submitted work and communications from tutors.
Feedback is an essential part of the e-Learning learning process.
It tells us what we have learned but more importantly, when we have misunderstood. The closer in time to the feedback to the submission of work the more effective it will be. As time passes, learners become more emotionally detached from submitted work. They may even forget what it was about.
Research has shown that learners often feel that work submitted online is ignored by tutors. This can be very demotivating and gives the message that online work is less important than classroom work.
