Further Information: It is clear who has the authority to take the e-Learning vision forward.

Who has authority?

The person with the authority to take the e-Learning vision forward will vary from organisation to organisation. Ideally the authority to take it forward should be with more than one person within the organisation. The e-Learning vision needs to be taken forward in many different arenas such as:

  • clinical
  • non clinical
  • finance
  • HR
  • IT
  • health and safety

Leaders who act as e-Learning champions within all of the different specialities will help to take the vision forward.

A strategic approach should be planned. This will ensure that the e-Learning vision is communicated and acted upon throughout the different levels of the organisation. Included in this should be the CEO through to operational level.

  • Does your organisation have e-Learning champions?
  • Does your organisation have a strategic plan to take forward the e-Learning vision?
  • Do leaders understand their role in taking forward e-Learning?

What does the role involve?

  1. Step one is the identification of a clear vision for e-Learning.
  2. Step two is to establish the role of e-Learning in the organisation.
  3. Step three is to identify who has the authority to take the vision forward.

The key requirement is for the people with authority to actively raise the profile of the vision. It is also essential that they are the recognised leader within their area of responsibility.

Leadership is about the enabling of leaders and managers to understand plan and sustain e-Learning. This should be within the context of their area of work.
