Further Information: There are effective e-Learning networks across the organisation with representation from a cross section of staff. The networks feed into high-level decision making and also disseminate information to colleagues in planned and informal ways.

What are effective e-Learning networks?

All key areas of the organisation should be involved in the organisation’s e-Learning network. The network could include the following as appropriate to the organisation:

  • The Board
  • Finance
  • Technical
  • IT
  • Medical
  • Clinical
  • Non clinical
  • Clinical Governance
  • Health & Safety
  • HR
  • Training/Education
  • Unions
  • Communications & marketing

Others could be included as seen appropriate within your organisation.
By having the appropriate people involved in the e-Learning network, you will ensure that all key aspects for the implementation of e-Learning are covered. You will be able to use the expertise that they bring to the network to cover pedagogical, technical and creative aspects effectively.

The inclusion of people from different specialties within the organisation will provide them with the opportunity to highlight the realities of e-Learning within their area. This will allow for the earlier identification of any technical or skills problems that may exist.

The members of the network are also ideal people to be e-Learning champions. They will be able to take forward positive messages and communicate progress to colleagues.

Does the organisation already have an e-Learning network in place?
Who makes up the membership of the network?

  • Are they the appropriate people?
  • Do you know how to establish an e-Learning network?

How to feed into high level decisions and disseminate information?

Each member of the network has the responsibility to then take forward the e-Learning message. They also need to ensure that links are made with the organisation’s priorities as and when they are discussed and decisions made.

A communication strategy for the network needs to be developed. This will enable the best use of the organisation’s communication channels to disseminate any information from the network. By providing the organisation with information about the implement of e-Learning you will be able to raise awareness and increase interest.

Representation of the organisation at regional and national meetings, networks, conferences, planning events will also benefit the organisation. Through these networks and events you can learn of the experiences of other organisations. Sharing ideas will benefit all of those involved. This will save time reinventing the wheel. In addition it will save money by learning from lessons learned in other organisations.
