Further Information: Leaders are aware of the level of support colleagues will need to develop e-Learning and are prepared and able to give it.
What levels of support?
In order to establish the level of support needed by colleagues to develop e-Learning it is necessary to identify their current level of understanding and experience of e-Learning.
The level of support that will be needed will vary from person to person. It could be from a pedagogical, technical or creative perspective for example. It is unlikely that colleagues will be strong in all three aspects. A colleague who is a technical expert may not have the same level of knowledge of the creative aspects of e-Learning. Team working is an effective method of working. It ensures that the best use of skills is made and that support is provided to each other.
Do you know how to establish effective team working for the implementation of e-Learning?
How to provide support?
You can provide support to colleagues through the following methods:
- networks
- focus groups
- newsletters
- email discussion groups
Look at the section in the Toolkit on networks.
It might be that you do not have the expertise to provide support in all aspects of e-Learning but you will have the knowledge of who can provide that expertise. You can divide the areas of work into the following categories:
- pedagogical (concerned with learning)
- technical (concerned with the computers and the networks)
- creative (concerned with the development of engaging content)
The next step is to consider how the skills of colleagues can be divided amongst these categories.
Can you now identify where support can be provided for the team members?
Look at the section in the Toolkit on Trainer Readiness
