Readiness to change questionnaire

The purpose of a Readiness to Change questionnaire is to establish the attitudes of change leaders and a range of employees to the new initiative or ways of working. Respondents will be asked a series of questions in a non-judgemental way. Their responses enable the designer to assess the level of commitment to change of individuals, teams and departments. The questionnaire can diagnose weak areas and help change leaders to build commitment by providing more skills training or more information that is tailored to specific groups or individuals.

Examples of questions

  • Can you describe the new initiative to me?
  • Do you understand why the new system is being introduced?
  • Do you know what it will mean for you?
  • How do you think it will change your work routine?
  • How do you feel about this?
  • What do your colleagues feel about this?
  • What do you need to do to prepare for the changes?
  • Will there be any help to do this?

The questions will be adapted to be appropriate for different groups. They test for

  • Awareness of the changes
  • Understanding of why the changes are happening
  • Reactions to the impact of the changes on them and their colleagues
  • The level of confidence in the support they will get to adopt new working practices and/or behaviour
  • Their level of commitment to the new methods.
